In Gaston County, a jury is deadlocked 8-4 on the question of whether Michael Ryan is guilty of the 2007 murder of David Farrar. It is not known which way the jury is split. If the jury is unable to reach a unanimous decision, a mistrial will be declared.
After the judge sent the jury back to continue their deliberations, the jury sent out a note asking to see a transcript of the testimony of Wesley Adair. The judge sent the jury home for the night while a transcript is prepared. Adair was also charged with killing Farrar, but was allowed to plead guilty to second-degree murder and avoid the death penalty after he pointed the finger at Ryan.
