Anti-DP March Across Eastern NC

The Sojourners for Abolition and Reconciliation are starting their annual pilgrimage this Sunday.  Last year, SOFAR walked 300 miles from Raleigh to Washington, DC.  This year they are making their trek from Raleigh all the way to the North Carolina coast and back.  You can follow the march and learn about how to participate and/or support the walkers on their website.

SOFAR:

  • Supports homicide victims’ families
  • Has compassion for the families of persons on death row
  • Promotes Restorative Justice to help individuals, families, and communities heal; and
  • Calls for the abolition of the death penalty

DP Event in Asheville

June 8, 2009

Death row exoneree Edward Chapman will be joined by North Carolina Representative Susan Fisher and others this Saturday at Nazareth First Baptist Church in Asheville.  The event, called Let Justice Roll: The Church Speaks out for Racial Justice in Our Court System, is being held in support of the Racial Justice Act which is pending in the NC legislature.
